There are thousands of small villages across the African continent that are unreached with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Language barriers, living conditions, and travel difficulties make it almost impossible to reach these villages through traditional missions efforts.
Taking the Light exists to equip existing missionaries and local Bible-believing Pastors who live near these unreached villages. We provide teaching materials, multi-media devices, and in-person training to equip these men to take the Gospel to the remote villages in there area.
We do this by translating sound doctrinal materials into tribal languages that are not widely spoken. We utilize media, like solar-powered MP3 players, and national workers to set up routes in remote villages, routinely delivering hours of biblical messages in order to lay a foundation until a Pastor is secured for that village.
Training national pastors to become itinerant preachers is a necessary step to see these rural areas reached with the Gospel. Our representatives make quarterly and even bi-monthly trips to equip and train nationals. Our desire is not to replace the missionary but rather to be a stopgap in the villages until we get Pastors for these remote areas.
Church-planting is missions; therefore, our goal is to establish New Testament churches in the villages. Our desire is to work ourselves out of a job. To reach areas for Christ means there must be a local church. We desire to aid veteran missionaries and national pastors in fulfilling the Great Commission in areas that often are overlooked.
